The American health portal The Healthy recently highlighted a study published in the international journal Food Science & Nutrition, revealing pomegranates’ positive impact on cancer prevention and treatment. This research was a collaborative effort among experts in pharmacy, nutrition, and chemistry from various countries, including South Korea, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh, and Nigeria.

The findings showed that incorporating pomegranates into your diet could slash your cancer risk by over 20%! These ruby-red fruits are packed with Polyphenols, potent antioxidants that act as a protector of your cells. But that’s not all – the Flavonoids and Tannins in pomegranates are inflammation-fighting superheroes, putting the brakes on cancer cell growth and cutting off tumors’ blood supply.

Here’s some great news for cancer patients: adding more pomegranates to their diet might help prevent those pesky cancer cells from spreading to other parts of their bodies.

The researchers said, “The potential cancer prevention and treatment effects of pomegranate stem from its ability to inhibit the growth and proliferation of cancer cells. ” They also noted that “Previous studies have also revealed that pomegranate exhibits anti-inflammatory and anti-tumor properties by regulating cancer-related signaling pathways.”

This study highlighted pomegranates’ potential to prevent and treat various cancers, including prostate, bladder, breast, skin, lung, and colorectal.

In addition to their antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects, they’re also great for your heart. Researchers added, “These juicy gems can help kick bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides to the curb and even help those with type 2 diabetes by helping to lower blood sugar levels.”

Pomegranates could also help control blood pressure, reduce chronic inflammation, and balance imbalanced hormone levels.
