On the 13th, the Incheon Michuhol Police Station announced that they were investigating a man in his 40s, referred to as A, without detention on suspicion of invading a public place for sexual purposes under the Special Act on the Punishment of Sexual Violence Crimes.

A is accused of infiltrating the women’s restroom on the basement first floor and third floor of a large department store in Michuhol-gu, Incheon, dressed as a female student around 3 PM on the 3rd.

The department store reported A, who was loitering near the women’s restroom dressed in women’s clothing, to the police around 5:20 PM that day.

Although the police immediately responded, they did not see A’s clear entry or exit from the restroom, so they did not see it as a case for on-the-spot arrest. The police confirmed his identity and mobile phone on the scene and then allowed him to return home.

The CCTV at the scene only recorded the passage leading to the women’s restroom in the department store, and it was reported that there was no footage of A actually entering the restroom.

A stated in the police investigation at the time, “I didn’t know it was a women’s restroom and went in because the door was open,” and “I dress as a woman as a hobby.”

A police official said, “A has hired a lawyer and is refusing to make a statement in subsequent investigations,” and announced, “We plan to check for illegal filming based on his mobile phone and other evidence.”
