On the 20th, YTN reported that a bomb threat was received at the Gocheok Dome, where the 2024 Major League Baseball opening game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and San Diego Padres is set to occur.

The Seoul Guro Police Station announced that a threatening email was received at dawn this day, threatening to detonate a high-performance bomb during the game to harm players such as Shohei Ohtani.

The police explained that they plan to increase the number of patrols and add special forces and mobile teams to the existing security personnel.

They also reported that no abnormalities have been detected in the bomb search so far.

Previously, the MLB World Tour Seoul Series 2024 is about to open with the official MLB regular season-opening game.

Through four special games held on the 17th and 18th, the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres, Kiwoom Heroes, LG Twins, and Team Korea have created numerous memorable moments.

Shohei Ohtani stepped into the batter’s box at Gocheok Sky Dome for the first time wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers uniform. Kim Ha Seong, who returned to his home team’s stadium for the first time in four years since transferring to the Padres, had a meaningful first ceremony in front of domestic fans. Kiwoom Heroes, LG Twins, and Team Korea proved the potential of Korean baseball against the world-renowned MLB teams.

The opening two-game series between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the San Diego Padres will occur on the 20th and 21st. In the first game, Tyler Glasnow (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Darvish Yu (San Diego Padres) will be the starting pitchers. In the second game, Yamamoto Yoshinobu (Los Angeles Dodgers) and Joe Musgrove (San Diego Padres) will take the mound as the starting pitchers.

On the 17th, at the Seoul Gocheok Sky Dome, ahead of the official opening series of the American Major League Baseball (MLB), Shohei Ohtani of the LA Dodgers went into his second at-bat during a practice game between the LA Dodgers and the Kiwoom Heroes. He was struck out in the top of the second inning with one out and runners on first and third. / Yonhap News
