Mbappé’s Nose Injury Clouds French Victory: What Now?

Daniel Kim Views

Mbappé suffers from a broken nose, and French soccer fans are concerned about future games. This news was announced just after France won 1-0 against Austria in the first round of Group D in Euro 2024, overshadowing the joy of victory with concern. France had its first victory at a match held at the Düsseldorf Arena in Germany on the 18th. However, France settled for second place due to the goal difference with the Netherlands. The narrow victory was made possible by Austria’s own goal. Throughout the game, Mbappé played a crucial role, leading to Maximilian Woeber’s own goal. However, just before the match ended, Mbappé suffered a nosebleed from a collision with an opposing player. The news of Mbappé’s emergency surgery shocked football fans.

Didier Deschamps, the head coach of the French national team, expressed concern about Mbappé’s injury, stating, “His nasal bone was fractured due to a collision.” Until now, Mbappé only assisted three times and has yet to score. In the last tournament, France was eliminated early after losing to Switzerland in a penalty shootout. Several media outlets have mentioned previous cases where players have played wearing masks after injuries, predicting that Mbappé will also use the same method for a speedy recovery.
