Lakers star player LeBron James plans to play alongside his son, Bronny James, during the 2024-25 season. Recently, LeBron mentioned on a podcast that Bronny can’t call him “Dad” while on the court together.
ESPN reported, “[He] cannot call me dad in the workplace.“
LeBron mentioned one of the scenarios he looks forward to most while playing alongside Bronny during a recent episode of the podcast “The Shop.” One of the examples he highlighted was how would Bronny refer him. LeBron stated, “In the locker room, during practice, and in games, you cannot call me ‘Dad.'”
He added, “Once we leave the private facility and the gates close, I could be a dad again. If we ride together in the car, I could be dad, and at home, I could be dad.“
LeBron had already thought of alternatives for this situation. He clarified, “He can call ‘2-3,’ or ‘Bron,’ but he cannot run down the court saying, ‘Dad, pass me the ball,’ or ‘Dad, I’m open.'”
LeBron signed a two-year contract worth $104 million with the Lakers, including an option, ensuring his stay until the 2025-26 season.
Similarly, Bronny was selected 55th by the Lakers in the 2024 NBA Draft. The Lakers secured a four-year contract worth $7.9 million, including a team option.
While several father-son duos have played in the NBA, none have played on the same court until now.
