After the incident became known, Lee Kang-in showed a reflective attitude on his social network service, saying, “I should have led the way and followed the advice of my seniors well, but I am sorry to have shown a bad side to soccer fans,” and “I apologize to many people who must have been disappointed in me.”

Meanwhile, South Korea recorded a crushing 0-2 defeat against Jordan in the semi-finals, showing their worst performance.

The situation of the physical altercation between Son Heung Min and Lee Kang In, which took place during the 2023 Asian Football Confederation(AFC) Asian Cup in Qatar, has been revealed.

On Friday, Dispatch reported the full story of the “Ping Pong Incident” during the Qatar Asian Cup.

On the 6th, after the national team conducted a full practice in preparation for the match against Jordan, they had dinner. It is known that Lee Kang In, Seol Young Woo, and Jung Woo Young played ping pong in the playroom next to the dining room amid a heavy atmosphere due to the lack of improvement in their performance.

An impatient senior player called them out, and Son Heung Min scolded them, saying, “You’re in training camp; focus on the game.” Unhappy with Son Heung Min’s bruises, Lee Kang In retorted, “Isn’t it wrong to play table tennis in the evening?”

When Son Heung Min grabbed Lee Kang In by the collar, Lee Kang In threw a punch at Son Heung Min. Son Heung Min was unable to dodge and was hit in the face. After the fight between Son Heung Min and Lee Kang In, the dining room turned into a chaotic scene with players and bodyguards, and Son Heung Min’s finger was dislocated as it was bent into a “ㄱ” shape.

After calming his anger, Son Heung Min reached out to Lee Kang In, saying, “Let’s focus on tomorrow’s game,” Lee Kang In also apologized, saying, “I’m sorry.”

Exhausted senior players from Lee Kang In’s impulsive behavior went to manager Klinsmann on the day of the semi-finals and asked him to remove Lee Kang In from the starting lineup. However, Klinsmann said, “Lee Kang In is a player I need to use,” and ignored the team’s problem.

After the incident became known to the public, Lee Kang In showed a reflective attitude on his social media, saying, “I should have led the way and followed the advice of my seniors well, but I am sorry to have shown a bad side to soccer fans,” and “I apologize to many people who must have been disappointed in me.”

Meanwhile, South Korea recorded a crushing 0-2 defeat against Jordan in the semi-finals, showing their worst performance.
