Tesla’s Nightmare: New Porsche Taycan GT Spotted

globalautonews Views

Porsche is in the works developing an updated version of the Taycan. Cameras have spotted the first uncamouflaged prototype. But even more exciting is the sighting of a high-performance GT version with a massive spoiler at the Nürburgring.

The key details about this prototype are hidden beneath the bonnet. As insiders from Porsche’s R&D department near Weissach have confirmed, Porsche is preparing its response to the Tesla Model S Plaid. It’s none other than a Taycan GT with over 1,000 horsepower.

However, achieving more excellent performance from today’s Taycan isn’t as simple as a software update. The battery pack needs to deliver a minimum of 1,000 hp (745 kW), but the motors are challenging. While most 1,000+ horsepower electric cars employ a tri-motor setup, the Taycan uses a dual-motor configuration. There are limits to the amount of torque that can be extracted, and boosting output requires rethinking the electric motor technology.

As a result, Porsche will likely need to introduce a triple-motor variant of the Taycan. Enthusiasts have been skeptical about whether the current chassis packaging allows this, but these photos and internal information prove them wrong.

If the Tesla Model S Plaid is the car Porsche aims to surpass, we may soon witness a Taycan GT with over 1,000 horsepower. This accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 2 seconds, reaching a top speed of over 320 km/h.
