U.S.-South Korea Alliance Bolstered: President Yoon Meets Former House Speaker McCarthy

The South Korean Presidential Office announced President Yoon Suk Yeol met with former U.S. House Speaker Kevin McCarthy on the 22nd.
At the meeting, Yoon said, “McCarthy has long been a key figure in the U.S. Congress, consolidating congressional support for the development of U.S.-Korea relations and peace and prosperity in the region.”
He continued, “Please continue your unwavering support so that the Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance based on shared values between Korea and the U.S. can continue to expand under the full support of the U.S. Congress.”
Yoon also expressed his gratitude for the invitation to deliver a joint address to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives during his state visit to the U.S. last April.
McCarthy responded, “It was an honor to share the meaningful moment of Yoon’s joint address to the Senate and House of Representatives as Speaker. I commend Yoon’s unwavering vision and leadership for advancing the U.S.-Korea alliance, and I will continue to make efforts for its further development.”
