President Joe Biden and former President Donald Trump began their first TV debate. They did not even shake hands when they stepped onto the debate stage. During the 2020 presidential election debate, the two presidents did not shake hands due to COVID-19 regulations.
The debate started with questions related to the economy. Biden claimed that the economy fell into chaos during his term due to Trump’s presidency. Still, Trump emphasized that “inflation is killing our country” and that he achieved the most outstanding economy in America’s history during his term.
Trump said that extensive tax cuts during his term led to economic growth, but Biden refuted this, saying the cuts were intended to give more tax benefits to the rich.
Biden made a slip of the tongue during the debate related to job creation, and Trump attacked Biden’s policy on illegal immigrants, claiming that the job increase during the Biden administration was “for illegal immigrants” and that “They’re living in luxury hotels in New York City and other places.” In response, Biden refuted, “Every single thing he said is a lie, every single one.“
The New York Times reported Trump was on fire tonight, and he attacked Biden on immigration issues.
