72% Doubt Biden’s Mental Health for Presidential Duties

In the aftermath of the recent TV debate, the voters’ view of current US President Joe Biden, who is facing a potential replacement as a presidential candidate, is unfavorable.

CBS announced the results of a two-day public opinion poll conducted in collaboration with data analytics firm YouGov following the first TV debate between Democratic candidate President Biden and Republican candidate former President Donald Trump.

“The proportion of those who believe Biden should not run in the upcoming November election is higher,” CBS reported, citing specific figures.

“We conducted a survey of 1,130 registered voters nationwide (with a margin of error of ±4.2 percentage points) and found that 72% responded that President Biden should not run in the election,” stated CBS. Meanwhile, the response that he should run without withdrawing as a candidate stood at 28%.

CBS noted, “In a survey conducted last February, the proportion of responses that President Biden should not run was 63%. But the figure rose by 9 percentage points following the TV debate.

“Also, the proportion of responses that he should run has fallen from 37% in February to 28%.”

The atmosphere is not favorable for Biden, even within the Democratic Party. In February, 64% of those said he should run, but that number dropped to 54% after the TV debate.

Biden’s age is also a burden. Biden, born November 20, 1942, has turned 81 years old this year. He will turn 82 after the election on November 5. To a question asking, “Does President Biden have the mental health and cognitive ability to perform his duties?” 72% responded ‘no’ in the survey. The figure is 7 percentage points higher than 65% in a separate poll conducted on June 9 before the TV debate.

However, regarding truthfulness during the debate, Biden still led Trump. 40 % of respondents believed that Biden was telling the truth, while the figure stood at 32% for Trump.
