As abnormal weather affects the Korean peninsula, North Korea is also on high alert for agricultural management.

The Rodong Sinmun, citing a notice from the State Hydro-Meteorological Administration, reported, “In mid-July and early August, due to the influence of the Northwestern Pacific subtropical high pressure and the monsoon front, the weather will be humid-hot, especially heatwaves expected in the coastal and inland areas of Gangwon and South Hamgyong provinces.”

They also forecasted, “There will be heavy rains and a lot of rain in some areas of the western and eastern coasts, mainly in South and North Hwanghae provinces and Gangwon province.”

The average temperature nationwide during this period is predicted to be 24-25 degrees Celcius (75.2-77 degrees Fahrenheit), higher than last year’s average of 32.6 degrees Celcius (75 degrees Fahrenheit). The average rainfall nationwide is expected to be 270-290㎜ (10.63-11.42 inches), higher than last year’s  236㎜ (9.29 inches).

They encouraged weeding and preventing harmful insects, emphasizing the importance of thoroughly establishing agricultural technical measures to ensure the safe growth of crops in light of this weather.
