Israel has closed its embassy in Ireland, citing the country’s alleged anti-Semitic policies as the reason.

According to a CNN report on Sunday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry stated that they are closing the Israeli embassy in Ireland. “Ireland has adopted extreme anti-Semitic policies,” they added.

Israel’s Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar criticized Ireland’s actions and anti-Semitic rhetoric towards Israel stemming from the demonization of the Jewish state and a double standard, stating, “Ireland has crossed all red lines in its relations with Israel.”

“Israel will invest its resources in advancing bilateral relations with countries worldwide according to priorities that also take into account the attitudes and actions of these states toward Israel,” he added.

The statement cited Ireland’s May announcement recognizing Palestine as a state and its recent decision to support South Africa’s case against Israel at the International Court of Justice for alleged war crimes as evidence of anti-Semitism.

Irish Prime Minister Simon Harris responded on X, saying, “This is deeply regrettable,” and firmly rejected the claim that Ireland is anti-Semitic, asserting, “Ireland is pro-peace, pro-human rights and pro-International law.”
