Ahmed Aliyu, the governor of Sokoto State in northwestern Nigeria, confirmed the incident on Thursday, as reported by international news sources, including Reuters. According to Aliyu, the military was conducting operations to neutralize armed criminal groups in the state. During this mission, two villages, Kidan Sama and Lintu, were mistakenly hit.
