Kim Jong Un, the leader of North Korea, declared, “If the enemy chooses military confrontation with us, we will not hesitate to mobilize all means at our disposal to annihilate them.”

The Rodong Sinmun, the organ of the North Korean Workers’ Party, reported on the 11th that Kim “conducted on-site guidance at the Kim Jong Il Military Academy, the highest military education institution in our country, on the 10th.”

According to the newspaper, Kim ordered, “Now is the time when we need to be more thorough in preparing for war than ever before,” and “We must be more thoroughly prepared for a war that we must win, not a war that could happen.”

Kim also said, “Overcoming the enemy’s numerical and military-technical superiority with the superiority of ideology and tactics is the unchangeable law of victory, all the time,” and called for “absolute loyalty and obedience to the party’s central leadership.”

The Kim Jong Il Military Academy, referred to by the newspaper as the highest hall of our country’s military education, first appeared in North Korean media during the military parade marking the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Workers’ Party in October 2020.

Unlike the Kim Il Sung Military University, which trains general officers, it appears to be an educational facility that cultivates a small number of high-ranking military officers at the level of regimental commander or higher.

Kim’s on-site visit to the Kim Jong Il Military Academy was accompanied by Pak Jong Chon, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Workers’ Party; Kang Sun Nam, Minister of National Defense; Lee Young Gil, Chief of General Staff of the People’s Army; and Hwang Byung Seo, Chief Advisor to the Ministry of National Defense, among other military officials.
