Robert Downey Jr. and Sandra Oh Star in New HBO Series on Coupang Play

Daniel Kim Views

The second episode of the HBO original limited series The Sympathizer, exclusively available on Coupang Play, is set to be released.

In the upcoming second episode, viewers will witness Captain (portrayed by Hoa Xuande) begin settling into the United States following his escape from Vietnam while maintaining his role as a communist spy.

Meanwhile, General (played by Toan Le), a South Vietnamese secret police officer, grows increasingly suspicious of the presence of a spy within the Vietnamese refugee community. He intensifies his efforts to expose the mole, hinting at the Captain’s precarious future.

The series also introduces Robert Downey Jr. in an impressive quadruple role, showcasing his versatility. He portrays a character distinct from the CIA agent seen in the initial episode, promising a dramatic transformation. Sandra Oh also captivates audiences as Korean-American Sophia Mori, who forms a complex relationship with Captain, leaving viewers intrigued about the unfolding storyline.

Directed by Park Chan Wook, new episodes of The Sympathizer premiere every Monday at 8 p.m., exclusively on Coupang Play.
