Daniel Kim Views

The global box office earnings for the film *Wonka* have surpassed $500 million, raising expectations for its domestic release.

The film *Wonka* is a sweet adventure that chronicles the astonishing journey of ‘Willy Wonka’ (Timothée Chalamet), who only has a sweet dream and an old hat, to become the world’s best chocolate maker.

According to Box Office Mojo, the global cumulative earnings of *Wonka* exceeded $577.9 million (approximately 667.7 billion Korean won) in just over a month. Surpassing the $420.2 million (approximately 527 billion Korean won) of Timothée Chalamet’s representative work *Dune*, *Wonka* has risen to be Chalamet’s highest-grossing film ever, demonstrating its remarkable box office power by surpassing the $496.38 million (approximately 654.2 billion Korean won) of the much-loved Disney·Pixar animation *Elemental*.

Especially, as *Elemental* attracted 7.23 million viewers in South Korea and received explosive love, attention is focused on the domestic box office of *Wonka*, which has emerged as the most anticipated film of the new year.

The film *Wonka* can be seen in theaters nationwide from the 31st.
