North Korea has been promoting the buildings and streets built in Pyongyang since Kim Jong Un’s regime took over, boasting of a New Era of Prosperity in Pyongyang. On the 4th, The Workers’ Party newspaper, Rodong Sinmun, emphasized Pyongyang transforms every year in the great era of Kim Jong Un, mentioning the developed look of Hwasong Street.

The newspaper stated that day, “The miracle of construction unfolding in a place that was just a barren field only two years ago astonishes the world and touches our hearts,” and “Our hearts naturally surge with excitement when we think about the spreading paradise of socialism that boldly overcomes all difficulties and the shining boundless expanse of water of happiness that will run through our descendants on Hwasong Street.”

It then listed places such as Unha Scientist Street, Ryukyungwon, Peoples Outdoor Ice Rink, Munsu Water Park, Okryu Children’s Hospital, Science and Technology Hall, Mirae Scientist Street, Ryomyong Street, Songhwa Street, and Kyongru-dong, where the New Era of Prosperity in Pyongyang is unfolding. The recently started third phase of the Hwasong District’s 10,000-home construction project was also mentioned.

The newspaper asked, “After a decade, where in the world can we see such a dazzling transformation in such a short time like our capital?” and praised Kim, saying, “The dramatic changes in Pyongyang are a historical miracle that only the outstanding Secretary can achieve.”

It emphasized the importance of building structures that combine nationalism and modernity to realize Kim’s People-First Doctrine in the construction sector, stating, “This should be the basic principle to follow in construction, and it is the core of our self-reliant architectural thought.”

Furthermore, it emphasized, “The countless miracles and spolia opima, created in the process of achieving the New Era of Prosperity in Pyongyang, are the infinite driving force that brings forward the new era of a powerful nation.”

North Korea held a groundbreaking ceremony for constructing a local industrial factory in Songchon County on the 28th of last month. Kim attended as the first step of the 20X10 Regional Development Policy. The 20X10 Regional Development Policy plans to build advanced local industrial bases in 20 counties yearly for the next ten years.

In his speech at the groundbreaking ceremony, Kim said, “The historic ceremony of breaking ground for the execution of our Party’s 20X10 Regional Development Policy, our greatest aspiration and ambition, is being held here in Songchon County, a representative mountainous area of our country,” and “With this, our Party’s 10-year goal to embrace the full-scale development of the regions has begun.”
