NVIDIA Unveils Next-Generation AI-Enhanced Humanoid Robots

Daniel Kim Views

NVIDIA has unveiled a humanoid robot equipped with AI features.

On the 18th (local time), NVIDIA announced a hardware and software platform to build a robot similar to humans, including generative AI features.

The company announced at its developer conference that the new platform will include ZenAI and other tools to operate robots and AI, along with a computer system.

With the addition of ZenAI, humanoid robots can act based on input, combining language, video, human demonstration, and past experiences.

The ZenAI component, Project GR00T, will be added to NVIDIA’s existing robotics engineering hardware and software platform.

Rev Levaredian, Vice President of NVIDIA Omniverse and Simulation Technology, said in a briefing with reporters, “These smarter, faster, and better robots will be deployed in heavy industries of the world. We are pulling the entire robotics and simulation ecosystem globally together to accelerate development and adoption.”

According to NVIDIA’s announcement, the powerful computer behind the ZenAI software, called Jetson Thor, is based on the company’s AI chip and other hardware, and the new GR00T ZenAI feature of the Isaac platform software tool suite is designed to operate in any robot implementation in any environment.

This computer will also provide sufficient computing performance for robots to perform complex tasks and interact with people and machines.

This tool includes training software to make better decisions over time.

NVIDIA also announced that it will launch pre-trained robot models and other software that enhance robot arm functions and multi-camera detection capabilities.
