A Chinese online user released a video showing him using his civilian drone to scatter leaflets over Kinmen Island, Taiwan’s frontline island.

According to United Daily News Taiwan and China Times on the 9th, the Chinese user whose Douyin (Chinese version of TikTok) account ID is Zhongli Science and Technology, live-streamed this event on Douyin on the afternoon of the first day of Taiwan’s Dragon Boat Festival holiday (from the 8th to the 10th).

China Times reported that the Chinese user remotely controlled his drone to drop leaflets near the First Outpost under Heaven, known as Mashan Observation Post in the northeastern part of Kinmen Island under Taiwan’s jurisdiction.

The report added that the drone continued to move westward, scattering leaflets over Kinmen University and Kinmen Police Station on the mainland of Kinmen Island. The Mahsan Observation Port is the closest area to China, approximately 1.24 miles away from Xiamen City, Fujian Province, China.

In response, the Taiwan Army’s Kinmen Defense Command stated that a Chinese civilian drone did not appear over the Mashan Observatory Port, and no leaflets scattered by the Chinese drone were found inside the observatory.

The Kinmen Defense Command emphasized that the disguise of all important weapons and facilities in the defense area has been completed and it will take appropriate countermeasures following drone-related regulations.

The Kinmen County Government requested the Kinmen Police Station to investigate the matter and urged the relevant Chinese authorities to crack down on such abnormal behavior by Chinese drone users.

Regarding this request, the Kinmen police said they spotted an unidentified drone flying toward the police station the previous afternoon.

They explained that when they responded with drone disruption equipment, it veered to the south.

Following reports that a tourist had found the leaflets, they dispatched police personnel to investigate the contents.
