A Russian soldier shoots a wounded comrade who was hit by a drone attack

A video has emerged showing a Russian soldier during a Ukrainian War shooting a comrade who was wounded in a drone attack.

According to a report by Business Insider on the 25th, a video was posted on a Telegram channel on the 23rd showing a few Russian soldiers evacuating, one of whom fell after being hit by a drone. The fallen soldier pointed his head to a following comrade, who promptly shot him in the head. No effort was made to treat or evacuate the injured soldier; his life ended abruptly. The poster stated, “A Russian soldier shot a comrade, wounded by a drone, in the head as per a comrade’s request,” but did not disclose the exact location of the incident, nor has the source of the video been confirmed.

Business Insider reported that “Drone footage showing a Russian soldier shooting a comrade hurt in combat highlights the brutal culture of callous behavior in the Russian armed forces, war experts say.” The Institute for the Study of War (ISW), a think tank based in Washington, D.C., commented that the video “clearly shows the brutality prevalent within the Russian military.” ISW experts claimed there have been instances of intentional fratricide within the Russian military, stating, “Fragging (the deliberate killing of fellow soldiers) is generally indicative of extremely poor discipline amongst troops, a disconnect between tactical level commanders and their subordinates, as well as a blatant disregard for human life.”
