McDonald’s Gets a Kanye Twist —Here’s What to Expect

Daniel Kim Views

Kanye West is teaming up with Naoto Fukasawa, a designer from MUJI, to launch new packaging for McDonald’s.

DesignBoom, an American design magazine, reported that Kanye recently posted images of the McDonald’s burger packaging he designed on his Instagram story. He intriguingly captioned the post, “Next week, it’s the fries,” piquing the interest of his followers.

The image Kanye posted shows the traditional McDonald’s hamburger picture printed on the box, with the iconic Golden Arches logo placed at the top. At the bottom of the box, Kanye cleverly inserted the phrase “Next week it’s the fries,” a line from “Gold Digger,” a track on his second album, Late Registration, released in 2005.

Kanye West is well-known for his fondness for McDonald’s. During a 2021 trip to Sweden, he stopped by a local McDonald’s. He ordered a feast he shared on Instagram: a large caramel frappe, a Chicken Tasty (a European sandwich), a medium fry, a large chocolate milkshake, a 3-pack of hot wings, and six BBQ dipping sauces.

Earlier this year, Kanye appeared in a McDonald’s commercial during the Super Bowl halftime show.

McDonald’s has previously collaborated with other famous American rappers like Travis Scott and Saweetie to launch new menu items. While Kanye is primarily known for his music, he has also made a name for himself as a designer, collaborating with brands such as Louis Vuitton, GAP, and Nike.

The final design for the new McDonald’s packaging featuring Kanye West and Naoto Fukasawa has yet to be confirmed.
