SpaceX and X to Call Texas Home, Musk Blames California Law

Following Tesla’s lead, Elon Musk announced his plans to move the headquarters of his other companies, X and SpaceX, to Texas.

On Tuesday, Musk announced on his X account that SpaceX would be relocating its headquarters from Hawthorne, California, to Starbase, Texas. He also mentioned that X would be moving its headquarters to Austin, Texas.

Musk reposted another user who criticized the AB1955 law related to LGBTQ+ students signed by California Governor Gavin Newsom. The law prohibits school staff in California from disclosing a student’s gender identity or sexual orientation to others, including parents, without the student’s consent. Califonia is the first state to implement such a law, the first of its kind in the nation.

Conservative groups, including the California Family Council, spoke out against this law, claiming it infringes on parental rights. Musk cited this law as the reason for his decision to relocate the headquarters of SpaceX and X.

He stated, “I decided to move because of this law and many other things that attack families and businesses. I did make it clear to Governor Newsom about a year ago that laws of this nature would force families and companies to leave California to protect their children.”

“The state will take away your kids in California,” he added.
