Hollywood actress Chloë Grace Moretz revealed that she voted early for Democratic candidate Kamala Harris in the U.S. presidential election while also coming out as a gay woman.
Moretz shared on Instagram that she voted early for Kamala Harris, encouraging others to participate in the election.
On Saturday, Moretz posted a selfie of herself voting on social media, writing, “I voted for Kamala Harris. There is so much on the line this election.” She added, “The government has no right over my body as a woman, and decisions about my body should come ONLY from myself and my doctor. Kamala Harris will protect that for us.”
Moretz also emphasized the importance of legal protections for the LGBTQ+ community, stating, “As a gay woman, I believe in the need for these protections.”
She raised her voice, stating, “We need protection in this country and access to the care we need and deserve. “She then urged her followers to vote: “Let’s make a plan to get to your polling place with friends!”
Debuting in the 2005 film Heart of the Beholder, Moretz gained fame in movies like 500 Days of Summer and Kick-Ass, earning the title of “America’s National Little Sister.” In 2018, she was appointed as a voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Though she has been dating model Kate Harrison since 2018, this marks her first official public outing.
Meanwhile, as of 6 a.m. on November 3, early votes in the U.S. presidential election have surpassed 75 million, according to the University of Florida’s election research center.
