North Korea has been fostering a memorial atmosphere as citizens from various walks of life commemorate the 13th anniversary of Kim Jong Il’s death on December 17.

On Tuesday, the Rodong Sinmun reported on its front page, “With deep longing for the Dear General, people from all walks of life are continuously ascending Mansu Hill,” alongside photos of citizens paying their respects to Kim Jong Il.

The newspaper also reported that labor organizations held gatherings to mark the 13th anniversary of Kim’s death.

“It was reported that Kim Jeong Sun, Department Director of the Party Central Committee, Moon Cheol, Chairman of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League Central Committee, and Jeon Hyang Sun, Chairwoman of the Socialist Women’s Union of Korea Central Committee, attended the event, along with youth league and women’s union officials, students, and members of women’s unions in Pyongyang.”

North Korea’s state-run media, including the Rodong Sinmun and Korean Central News Agency, published articles highlighting Kim Jong Il’s achievements on the 13th anniversary of his death.
