President Donald Trump plans to classify violent attacks on Tesla dealerships as domestic terrorism, according to a report by TechCrunch on Tuesday.
On the same day, Trump met with Elon Musk at the White House and strongly supported both Tesla and Musk.
Trump said that those who commit violence against Tesla’s property must stop, stating that they are harming a great American company. “We’re going to catch you, and you’re going to go through hell,” he said. He added that if they target Tesla, they will likely target other companies and face severe consequences.
Under U.S. federal law, attacks on corporate property can be considered domestic terrorism if they are intended to intimidate civilians or affect government property. Previously, Trump pledged to deport international students who participated in protests against the Gaza war. The media reported that the same stance could apply to U.S. permanent residents or visa holders involved in Tesla-related protests.
Also, Trump was seen briefly sitting with Musk in a red Tesla Model S sedan parked on the White House’s South Lawn. Seated in the driver’s seat, he repeatedly praised the car’s design. He then announced his intention to purchase a Tesla, stating that this is an excellent product and that Musk has dedicated his energy and life to it.
Meanwhile, protests against Musk’s political actions and a boycott of Tesla products continue to intensify across the United States.
