Breaking Barriers: Kim Ju Ae’s Transparent Attire Sparks Fashion Revolution in North Korea

Kim Jong Un’s daughter, Kim Ju Ae, appeared in public for the first time in over two months, drawing attention to her outfit.

According to Radio Free Asia (RFA) on the 15th, Kim Ju Ae attended the inauguration ceremony of a newly built street in the northern part of Pyongyang, North Korea, with Kim Jong Un on the 14th.

This public appearance marks Kim Ju Ae’s first in two months since attending the opening ceremony of the Kangdong Greenhouse Complex in March.

On this occasion, Kim Ju Ae attracted attention in a see-through outfit that showed her arms, a rare sight in North Korea, where dress codes are strict.

In an interview with RFA, Jung Sung Jang, director of the Sejong Institute’s Korea Peninsula Strategy Center, explained, “It seems she freely chose her outfit as a member of the Baekdu bloodline rather than a look orchestrated by North Korean authorities. “

He added, “Figures like Ri Sol Ju and Kim Ju Ae are free from existing constraints. They can shock North Korean residents, especially women, and bring about changes in North Korean fashion.”

This is not the first time Kim Ju Ae’s fashion has drawn attention.

Previously, Kim Ju Ae has been seen wearing a kids’ hooded down jacket from the French luxury brand Christian Dior on several occasions.

In February, stylist Lauren A. Rothman referred to Kim Ju Ae’s outfits as legacy fashion in an interview with RFA.

Rotman said, “In the process of transitioning from wearing a white padded winter coat to darker jackets or coats, you can see elements that could be called legacy fashion,” adding, “You can also see how she expresses her power through fashion.”
