Xinhua News reported on Tuesday that Chinese President Xi Jinping visited the People’s Liberation Army’s airborne forces on Monday and stressed their crucial role in China’s military.

Xi underscored the necessity of advancing the Air Force through improved combat training and enhanced airborne operational capabilities. He also urged the importance of keeping responsibility and duty focused, emphasizing the need to be prepared for battle by increasing combat awareness and readiness.

He further instructed the military to fully utilize airborne forces by understanding their significance in modern warfare and to innovate operational models and deployment methods.

The airborne unit Xi visited serves as a rapid deployment force under the Chinese Air Force.

Xinhua News reported that Xi expressed satisfaction with the recent advancements in the airborne troops’ weaponry and equipment systems. However, he emphasized developing new airborne equipment that meets current operational demands.

He Weidong, Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission and the second-highest-ranking official in the Chinese military hierarchy, accompanied Xi during the inspection.

In addition to the airborne troops, Xi toured Xiaogan and Xianning in Hubei Province. His itinerary included visits to museums and other sites, where he issued directives to local officials after being debriefed on local cultural preservation efforts, research initiatives, and rural development projects.
