On January 1, members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea and senior officials from the Party, government, and military institutions paid tribute at the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun to celebrate the New Year.

Rodong Sinmun reported on Thursday, “The participants expressed their respect to the statues of Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il and offered New Year’s greetings with reverence.”

The article also stated, “All participants reaffirmed their commitment to fulfilling the significant responsibilities entrusted by the Party, revolution, and the people in the historic march for comprehensive socialist development, thereby boldly driving the era of prosperity and greatness for the powerful nation.”

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un did not attend the tribute ceremony.
