Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, is predicted to become the world’s first trillionaire within the next three years. According to a report by the Guardian, the asset analysis and marketing consulting firm Informa Connect Academy estimated this based on Musk’s wealth increasing at an average annual rate of 110%. Musk, who is also the founder of SpaceX and owner of the social media platform X, currently holds a net worth of $251 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His wealth is projected to increase fourfold by 2027.
Following Musk, Gautam Adani, chairman of India’s Adani Group, is identified as the second person likely to reach trillionaire status. The report suggests that Adani’s wealth is growing at an average rate of 123%, which could push his fortune beyond $1 trillion by around 2028 if this trend continues.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang and Prabowo Subianto, chairman of Indonesian energy conglomerate Barito Pacific Group, are also expected to become trillionaires by 2028.
Bernard Arnault, chairman of the world’s largest luxury group, France’s LVMH, and Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook’s parent company Meta Platforms, are predicted to achieve trillionaires status by 2030.
In related news, Oxfam, an international relief organization, reports that the top 1% of the wealthy are responsible for 16% of global carbon emissions. This implies that the super-rich—approximately 77 million individuals—emit as much carbon as the bottom 66% of the global population, which includes over 5 billion people.
