Dell Technologies has joined some tech companies that mandate in-office work five days a week.
According to Reuters on Thursday, Dell’s global sales team employees must return to working in-office five days a week starting September 30.
The memo said the change is to leverage a collaborative environment and “grow skills,” which requires the team to be in the office. “Working remotely should be the exception rather than the routine,” it added.
Sales team members are expected to work entirely in the office with customers and partners. Previously, this team was required to work in the office three days a week.
Dell also reported that remote sales team members who cannot come into the office will continue to work remotely. More information regarding remote workers will be provided in the coming weeks.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic, many companies have allowed employees to work from home. However, several tech companies now want employees to return to the office two to three days a week.
E-commerce giant Amazon announced last week that it would require employees to return to the office five days a week starting next year, terminating its previous three-day work policy.
Dell Technologies stock rose 5.26%, trading at $126.49.
