OpenAI has become one of the donors contributing to President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration fund.

On Saturday, an OpenAI spokesperson announced that CEO Sam Altman plans to donate $1 million to the fund personally. This aligns OpenAI with other tech companies and executives who aim to build a cooperative relationship with the incoming administration.

In a statement, Altman said, “President Trump will lead our country into the age of AI, and I am eager to support his efforts to ensure America stays ahead.”

The announcement follows Meta’s disclosure of its $1 million donation to the inauguration fund just a day earlier. Amazon has also pledged to contribute the same amount.

Trump has appointed Elon Musk, the world’s wealthiest individual, and Vivek Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate, to lead DOGE—a newly established external advisory committee tasked with reducing government spending and regulations.

Currently entangled in a legal dispute with Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Altman has downplayed concerns about Musk’s potential influence within the incoming administration.

Musk, an early investor and former board member of OpenAI, filed a lawsuit earlier this year, alleging that OpenAI had abandoned its founding mission of serving the public good, shifting instead toward profit-driven objectives.

Recently, Musk escalated his legal action, requesting a federal judge intervene and halt OpenAI’s transition to a for-profit model.
