According to a recent analysis by Mirae Asset Securities, meta (META) is emerging as a leader in generative AI and social media.

The firm predicts that by 2025, the AI industry will enter the “agent era” as inference capabilities advance rapidly. AI agents are expected to act as primary gatekeepers for users’ needs, with the next one to two years being critical for companies to develop sophisticated AI agents and secure a large user base.

Park Yeon Joo, a researcher at Mirae Asset Securities, believes Meta is currently at the forefront of this AI agent race.

Meta AI, the company’s influencer AI chatbot launched in 2024, has already surpassed 500 million monthly active users. By the end of this year, Meta aims to become the most widely used AI chatbot in the U.S.

This rapid user growth is mainly due to Meta’s 4 billion-strong global user base and the conversational nature of its social media platforms.

In 2025, Meta plans to launch an AI studio, allowing businesses and influencers to create AI agents easily. This development is expected to boost ad revenue through increased user engagement and open pathways for expansion into search advertising and e-commerce.

Meta’s open-source foundation model ecosystem is also rapidly expanding. The company’s Llama-based foundation model has already led to 64,000 derivative models, demonstrating widespread adoption across industries. Park likened foundation models to smartphone operating systems and predicted their eventual extension to next-generation devices like Orion.

Analysts maintain a $750 target price for Meta, reaffirming its position as a top pick.

Despite Meta’s rapid stock price surge, strong performance improvements have eased concerns over valuation. Meta’s growth is being fueled by increasing consumption of short-form content and the rising market share of Instagram’s Reels.

Park highlighted that the full impact of generative AI is expected to materialize by 2025, and Meta’s strategy thus far has been positive.

Key developments to monitor in 2025 include the successful launch of the AI studio, the expansion of Meta AI services, and Meta’s ability to remain competitive against rival AI agents from companies like Google.
