A Tokyo tanning salon owner has been arrested after allegedly taking nude photographs of more than 100 female customers over the past three decades.

Asahi Shimbun and local media sources reported that the Tokyo Metropolitan Police arrested 62-year-old Hiroki Yamamoto on charges of illegally photographing female customers at his tanning salon.

The authorities stated that Yamamoto was caught on August 6 after filming a customer in her twenties using the tanning machine.

This woman, who had previously visited the salon, became suspicious when she heard the sound of a curtain being drawn and the click of a camera shutter. When she returned for a second visit, she set up her phone in advance, capturing Yamamoto illegally filming her from beneath.

After the woman reported the incident, police arrested Yamamoto. He admitted to secretly filming women he found attractive to satisfy his sexual urges.

The police investigation revealed that this was not Yamamoto’s first offense. He admitted to filming more than 100 women since he opened the store about 30 years ago. “I thought I wouldn’t get caught,” Yamamoto stated.

Authorities uncovered approximately 400 nude photographs of female customers on Yamamoto’s confiscated phone. A police spokesperson indicated that Yamamoto, who runs the store solo, is suspected of exploiting his time alone with customers to record the images.
