Shocking Indictments in Matthew Perry’s Death: Doctor and Assistant Charged in Ketamine Scandal

Daniel Kim Views

Five individuals, including the doctor and personal assistant of the late Matthew Perry, known for his role as Chandler Bing on the iconic American sitcom Friends, have been indicted in connection with his death.

Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles announced yesterday the indictment of two doctors who supplied Perry with large quantities of ketamine, Perry’s personal assistant who lived with him, and a ketamine supplier, among others.

Attorney Martin Estrada announced that investigators conducted a thorough probe following Perry’s death in October 2023. Their investigation uncovered a vast underground crime network that supplied large quantities of ketamine to Perry and others. Estrada remarked, “They exploited Perry’s ketamine addiction for their financial gain.”

“They knew that what they were doing posed a significant risk to Perry,” he added.

Estrada also revealed that one of the doctors texted, “I wonder how much this idiot will pay,” indicating a desire to become the actor’s drug supplier.

While the doctors paid $12 per bottle, they sold each bottle to Perry for $2,000.

Perry’s personal assistant received a total of 50 bottles of ketamine from the supplier, including 25 bottles just four days before his death.

Earlier, in December of last year, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner (DME) revealed that Perry’s cause of death was acute ketamine toxicity.

Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic and psychoactive drug used as an alternative treatment for depression, anxiety, PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), and other challenging mental health conditions.

The medical examiner stated that “the primary lethal effect of Perry’s death was cardiovascular overstimulation and respiratory depression due to ketamine.” They also cited drowning, coronary artery disease, and the effects of buprenorphine (a medication used to treat opioid use disorder) as contributing factors to his death.

Meanwhile, Perry was found drowned in his bathtub at his Los Angeles home on October 28, 2023. He passed away at the age of 54.
