The tragic story of a family of five in Israel who were massacred in an attack by the Palestinian armed faction Hamas evokes sympathy.

According to foreign reports from Times of Israel and Australia’s ABC News on the 17th (local time), about 50 of the 800 residents of Kfar Aza, a shared agricultural area in southern Israel, lost their lives in an attack by Hamas on the 7th. This included a family of five who lived in the village.

The deceased were father Aviv Kutz (54), mother Livnat (49), daughter Rotem (19), and sons Yonatan (17) and Yiftach (15), all found dead in their home beds. When they were discovered, it was reported that Aviv, the father, was holding his wife and children close.

Father Aviv was a vice president of a local consulting firm and a farmer, and mother Rivnat was about to turn 50. Daughter Rotem was a military training instructor, and sons Yonatan and Iftach were aspiring basketball players.

Relatives of the family said, “We were supposed to meet the family on the day of the Hamas surprise attack,” and “The late Aviv used to hold festivals along the Gaza Strip fence every year to show that they just wanted to live in peace,” expressing their sorrow.

Previously, news was reported in this area that Neta Epshtein (21), a dual citizen of Canada and Israel, died saving his fiancée, Ayin Shavit, by covering a grenade Hamas threw with his body.

Kfar Aza is less than 2 miles from the Gaza Strip, where rocket attacks occur daily. The process of identifying about 50 victims in this area is ongoing.
