Ukraine’s intelligence agency spokesperson: ‘To strengthen domestic control’
General SVR is notorious for spreading fake news

Recent death rumors of President Vladimir Putin have been claimed to be a self-made drama of the Kremlin, according to allegations raised in Ukraine.

According to a report by the British Telegraph on the 2nd (local time), Andriy Yusov, a spokesperson for the Information Bureau (HUR) under the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, claimed that “the death rumor of President Putin raised by Russia’s Telegram channel last week is a Kremlin strategy to strengthen domestic control.”

He explained to local media, “An empire built on the work of secret agencies is learning to rule in this way.”

The Russian Telegram channel GeneralSVR posted on the 27th of last month that President Putin had died and his body was stored in a freezer. The infamous GeneralSVR for fake news regularly posts ‘news of President Putin’s death.’ This channel has previously raised allegations of Putin’s cancer surgery, early Parkinson’s disease diagnosis, and a mishap after a fall on the stairs.

Despite being fake news, these posts are attracting global attention, and Dmitry Peskov, a Kremlin spokesman, has repeatedly denied the content.

Spokesperson Yusov claimed that this is according to the Kremlin’s master plan. He said, “The purpose of fake news is to observe the reactions of individuals, elites, and the media.”

However, there is no authoritative analysis yet showing the connection between the Kremlin and GeneralSVR. GeneralSVR claims that a former Russian intelligence officer writes the posts while keeping a distance from the Kremlin.
