Judge Kim Bae-hyun of the Daegu District Court Pohang Branch Criminal Division 3 announced on the 12th that he sentenced Mr. A, 49, who was indicted for violating the Animal Protection Act, to six months in prison with a two-year suspended execution.

According to the verdict, Mr. A was handed over to trial on suspicion of killing his pet dog by throwing it out of the window of his 10th-floor apartment in Pohang City, North Gyeongsang Province, at around 1:29 a.m. on September 2nd last year.

It was revealed that Mr. A committed such a crime out of anger when his pet dog bit his right ring finger.

Judge Kim stated, “The defendant seems to have committed the crime in a moment of rage when the pet dog, which had been comforting him after his divorce, bit him and caused an injury. Considering factors such as the defendant’s lack of previous convictions, we decided on the sentence,” he explained the reason for the sentencing.
