Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, has stated that his prescription use of the psychoactive drug ketamine is “in the best interest of investors” in Tesla and his other companies.

In an interview with former CNN anchor Don Lemon, which was published on YouTube and other platforms on the 18th (local time), he said, “I take it as prescribed to treat a chemical state similar to depression.” This remark came about when Lemon asked why he was prescribed ketamine while they were discussing how Musk relaxes. Musk said, “Ketamine helps to escape from such negative frames when there is something like depression.”

When asked about the possibility of Wall Street investors having an issue with his ketamine use, he stressed, “From an investor’s perspective, if I’m taking something, it’s better to keep taking it.” He also mentioned the process of making Tesla successful. Musk claimed, “Execution is important on Wall Street,” and Tesla has as much value as the rest of the automobile industry combined. It created something from nothing.”

Previously, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported in January that concerns among company executives and directors have been growing in recent years due to Musk’s drug use, including ketamine, LSD, cocaine, and ecstasy. At the time, he insisted, “Whatever I’m doing, I have to keep doing it,” after undergoing a drug test. In September 2018, he even accepted marijuana from the host and took a puff on comedian Joe Rogan’s podcast show.

During the interview, he also mentioned the meeting with former President Donald Trump earlier this month. Musk said, “I had breakfast at a friend’s house, and Donald Trump stopped by. That’s it.” He added, “I went to a friend’s house, and they said Trump was waiting, so I said, ‘Okay, that’s fine.'”

When asked if former President Trump had requested funds or donations, he answered with a “No.” He also explained his statement further on X (former Twitter) that he does not donate to any U.S. presidential candidate, saying, “I don’t want to lend him money to help pay his legal bills.” Furthermore, he added that he may need to support a candidate eventually, but he is still unsure. If he decides to support a candidate, he will provide a clear explanation as to why at that time.
