AI-Generated Content Sparks Debate in Chinese Video Industry

theguru Views

Recently, there has been a lively discussion about Artificial Intelligence Generated Content (AIGC) in the Chinese video content industry. Additionally, efforts to introduce AI technology on various platforms are accelerating.

According to industry sources, on the 7th, the combination of AI and video content emerged as a hot topic at the 11th China Audio & Video Convention held on the 28th of last month.

The combination of AI and video content has become a hot topic because generative AI technology is rapidly developing. Currently, generative AI technology has reached a level where it can convert text input into video. Many content companies are speeding up the introduction of this technology.

At this convention, Mango TV, a Chinese OTT platform, also unveiled an AI director called AiMang. Mango TV introduced AiMang as capable of reading scripts, recommending roles, and planning shoots, with further refinement.

Despite the rapid development of AIGC, there are still limitations. Most notably, AI technology can only generate short videos, so it is applied to short-form content. Applying it to long-form content is challenging, which limits its influence.

In the industry, AIGC’s influence is currently seen as a combination of opportunities and shocks for short-form content. However, some believe it also impacts long-form content and predicts it will take on various content production roles as technology advances.
