Regarding President Biden dropping out of the next presidential candidate, the South Korean government stated, “We will not comment on the political situations of other countries.”
A spokesperson from the presidential office told reporters, “Support for the South Korea-U.S. alliance is bipartisan in the United States, and our government will continue to work closely with the U.S. further to develop the South Korea-U.S. Global Comprehensive Strategic Alliance.”
An official from the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated, “Our government will continue to work with the U.S. to advance the South Korea-U.S. alliance, which has been elevated to a global comprehensive strategic alliance.”
Meanwhile, Biden abruptly withdrew from the Democratic presidential nomination and officially abandoned his reelection bid just over three months before the U.S. presidential election. In a statement, he said, “While I have intended to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
