China has refused to comment officially on U.S. President Joe Biden’s withdrawal as a Democratic candidate for the election. However, the Chinese state media on social media said that “a fierce and exciting battle remains.”

During a regular briefing yesterday, Mao Ning stated, in response to questions about President Biden’s withdrawal, “I will not comment further as the U.S. presidential election is an internal matter for the United States.”

During Biden’s presidency, the U.S. and China have experienced conflicts across various fields. Despite resumed communication between the two nations following their November summit in San Francisco, many observers believe tensions remain high.

Meanwhile, the official social media account of Xinhua News commented that “a historic event has occurred in the United States.” It elaborated, “When a country gradually loses confidence, it cannot solve its problems, is torn apart by internal strife, creates external enemies, and engages in blame-shifting and disgracing. One thing is certain: a more intense and exciting battle lies ahead.” This statement reflects China’s criticism of the U.S. for engaging in “blame-shifting” and “disgracing” during times of friction.

President Biden announced his withdrawal from the Democratic presidential candidacy on Sunday. He stated, “And while I have intended to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as President for the remainder of my term.”
