The South Korean presidential office reported today that numerous trash balloons launched by North Korea were found within its territory, prompting urgent responses. While previous trash balloons have landed near the presidential office, this is the first time debris has been discovered directly on the premises.
The presidential office spotted the debris around the Yongsan office while coordinating with the Joint Chiefs of Staff to monitor trash balloons sent by North Korea that morning. After a chemical and biological response team investigated and confirmed that the objects were not dangerous or contaminated, they were collected. The office is now determining the total number of trash balloons that landed on the premises and is examining their specific contents.
Earlier, North Korea resumed its balloon provocations, launching the tenth round of trash balloons targeting South Korea starting this morning.
