South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol issued a rare public apology on Thursday, stating, “All of this is due to my oversight and lack of virtue.” Speaking from the presidential briefing room, Yoon expressed regret and offered “sincere apologies to the citizens of our nation,” bowing deeply as a gesture of repentance.

He acknowledged that his initiatives, intended to improve citizens’ lives and secure South Korea’s future, had inadvertently caused public inconvenience. “Matters surrounding me have also been a source of concern for our citizens,” he noted. Yoon underscored his commitment to accountability, saying, “I believe that the role of the president is not to make excuses.”
