Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on Monday that his troops are facing approximately 50,000 enemy soldiers in Kursk, Russia.

Zelenskyy revealed that he received detailed reports on the situation from the commander-in-chief, Oleksandr Syrskyi, via Telegram. Major U.S. media outlets have also reported that Russia has mobilized a large number of troops to reclaim the Kursk region, which Ukrainian forces currently control.

Reports have emerged that Russia has mobilized around 50,000 soldiers with the help of the recruited North Korean troops. The U.S. State Department indicated that at least 10,000 North Korean soldiers are moving to Kursk. According to the local media, a full-scale offensive by the Russian military has already begun.

Zelenskyy highlighted fierce fighting in Pokrovsk and Kurakhove in eastern Ukraine, emphasizing the need to strengthen Ukrainian military capabilities.

Predictions are emerging that tensions between the two countries may escalate following the recent election of former President Donald Trump in the U.S.

Trump has suggested potential negotiations with Russia based on the “current border,” proposing solutions for the ongoing war in Ukraine. This situation is expected to intensify the fierce competition between the two nations for territorial control. Russia currently occupies about 20% of Ukrainian territory, and the dynamics of the conflict are anticipated to become increasingly complicated.
