On Sunday, Democratic Party floor leader Park Chan Dae criticized Prime Minister Han Duck Soo and People Power Party (PPP) leader Han Dong Hoon’s joint governance proposal. Park asserted that impeachment is the only constitutional method for an orderly removal from office.

During the Supreme Council meeting, Park questioned the authority and qualifications of both leaders to discuss presidential exclusions from duty. He criticized PPP leader Han for opposing impeachment and Prime Minister Han for failing to prevent the declaration of martial law.

Park argued that PPP leader Han’s claim about impeachment causing uncertainty is a blatantly unconstitutional sophistry that directly contradicts the Constitution. He added that Han’s attitude of placing himself above the Constitution mirrors that of the insurrectionist President Yoon.

Park emphasized that regardless of attempts to disguise it with real-time flip-flopping and sophistry, the essence remains an illegal and unconstitutional second insurrection or coup. He affirmed that the Democratic Party would not tolerate any actions aimed at subverting the constitutional order.

Addressing the PPP, Park labeled them as co-conspirators who obstructed the impeachment of the insurrectionist leader. He noted that while the impeachment vote was a constitutional exercise of the National Assembly’s authority, the public witnessed PPP members abandoning the main assembly hall just before the crucial vote.

Park further criticized floor leader Choo Kyung Ho for obstructing the emergency measures lifting procedures and the impeachment vote. He called for appropriate measures against Choo and demanded the immediate resignation of PPP members who impeded the impeachment process, deeming them unfit for office.

Park reaffirmed his commitment to pursuing a second presidential impeachment.

He highlighted the severe economic impact of the uncertainty caused by the December 3 insurrection and the failed impeachment. Park outlined plans to swiftly resolve the situation through a second impeachment effort, special investigations into the insurrection, and accountability for those involved.

Despite the initial impeachment failure, Park praised the public for their widespread demonstrations over the weekend, highlighting their resolve as a testament to democratic principles. He promised swift action by the National Assembly, buoyed by public support, to restore stability and reaffirm constitutional governance.
