(Yonhap)]President Lee Jae Myung’s approval rating rebounded to 64 percent, according to a survey released Friday.

The Gallup Korea poll, which surveyed 1,001 adults from Tuesday to Thursday, showed a 1 percentage point increase in positive assessment of Lee’s performance compared to the previous week. The negative assessment remained unchanged at 23 percent.

Lee’s approval rating initially stood at 64 percent in the first Gallup poll conducted three weeks into his term. It then edged up to 65 percent in early July before dipping to 63 percent last week.

Critics cited Lee’s excessive welfare and livelihood support programs, poor diplomatic performance, and controversial personnel appointments as reasons for the negative assessments.

The ruling Democratic Party saw its approval rating rise to 46 percent, a 3 percentage point increase from the previous week. Meanwhile, support for the main opposition People Power Party remained steady at 19 percent.

The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.1 percentage points at a 95 percent confidence level. (Yonhap)
