‘Dune’ Director Denis Villeneuve Meets ‘The Battle of Noryang’ Director Kim Han-min… What Did They Discuss?

A meeting between two directors representing Korea and Hollywood has been arranged.

Denis Villeneuve, who directed *Dune: Part 2*, set to be released in February 2024, had a special meeting with Kim Han-min, the director of *The Battle of Noryang*, which will be released on December 20, for a Master Talk session as part of the ‘Cine21+’ interview segment.

For this discussion, Director Kim Han-min personally attended the press conference for *Dune: Part 2*. Denis Villeneuve visited Korea a little over two months ahead of the release of *Dune: Part 2*. Denis Villeneuve has watched all of Kim Han-min’s previous works, including *The Admiral: Roaring Currents* and *The Battle of Hansan*.

Through the Master Talk, they had a serious discussion about Denis Villeneuve’s filmography, including *Dune*, and Kim Han-min’s filmography, well known for his ‘Admiral Yi Sun-sin Trilogy’.

Additionally, the two directors showed their love and seriousness for films by discussing various topics, such as how to direct overwhelming large-scale battle scenes and series works, which are common keywords for both.

*Dune: Part 2* is about Paul (Timothée Chalamet), who has awakened to his abilities and seeks his destiny as a warrior on a journey for revenge.

*The Battle of Noryang* depicts the final battle of General Yi Sun-sin (Kim Yoon-seok), aiming to completely annihilate the Japanese forces attempting to retreat from Joseon seven years after the outbreak of the Imjin War.
