In Korea, one out of every three adults suffers from a presbyopia-related disease. If you are unable to read the text on your smartphone all of a sudden, or if your eyes feel sore, dry, and dim, then it is likely that presbyopia has already started affecting you. Ignoring this condition can lead to major eye diseases such as cataracts, glaucoma, and macular degeneration. It is essential to seek medical assistance as soon as you experience these symptoms.

Dry eye syndrome, a common elderly eye disease accompanying presbyopia, affects 80% of adults. It is not just about having dry and uncomfortable eyes. If neglected, it can impair vision and, in the worst case, cause blindness.

Yoon Kyung-sook, a woman in her 50s suffering from severe dry eye syndrome, has tried everything for her eye health since being diagnosed with the condition ten years ago. She has undergone multiple treatments, including autologous serum therapy, laser therapy, and procedures to block the tear ducts. She has also tried eye exercises and foods known to be good for the eyes, but nothing has worked.

Lee Mi Sook, a woman in her 60s, has been suffering from severe eye pain for the past three years. She feels like her eyeballs will pop out, and her eyes are rotting. When she started experiencing headaches that seemed to originate from her brain, she worried she might have a severe illness and sought medical help. It turned out that her torment was due to an eye disease.

Kim Tae Yoon, a man in his 50s who operates an excavator, constantly has tears streaming down his face, making his daily life very uncomfortable. He says his eyes feel dry and gritty despite the constant tears, so he frequently uses artificial tears.

As such, eye diseases, including dry eye syndrome, can significantly affect daily life, making it necessary to care for eye health.

But can we trust all the information pouring out from various media outlets? It is necessary to verify the effectiveness of lutein supplements, eye massages, eye exercises, and foods known to be good for the eyes, such as carrots, blueberries, and cassia seeds.

In this regard, the EBS program “Your Precious Body” will air on the 16th at 9:45 PM. It will feature a group of ophthalmologists who will debunk myths, reveal truths about eye health, and share genuine methods for maintaining healthy eyes.
