Airport Insider Reveals Why Your Luggage Comes Last

inews24 Views

Attaching accessories such as ribbons or luggage tags to identify suitcases easily can delay their delivery.

The New York Post published an article titled “Baggage handler issues warning to passengers who tie ribbons to their suitcases.” The article noted that ribbons or luggage tags passengers attach to their checked luggage for easier identification “can cause issues with the bag being scanned in the baggage hall.”

The media outlet quoted a baggage handler at Dublin International Airport in Ireland stating, “The luggage attachments delay the delivery of passengers’ suitcases.”

“If the bag can’t be scanned automatically, it can end up in manual processing, which could mean your bag doesn’t make it to the flight,” the bag handler explained.

It turns out that luggage is more likely to arrive earlier when no ribbons or stickers are attached to the suitcase.

The baggage handler suggested, “Take old stickers off the bag; they can confuse the scanning process.” He also suggested placing suitcase wheels facing upwards before checking the bag to prevent damage.
