How to Fry an Egg for Dummies

Daniel Kim Views

If you’re reading this, then it’s likely you are one among money who cannot fry an egg. Although it may sound like a simple task, it can be quite difficult to fry the perfect egg. So without further ado, let’s get to it!

1. Preheat the Pan

Before adding oil, preheat the frying pan over low heat. It’s important not to overheat the pan.

2. Add Oil

Once the pan is preheated, swirl a good amount of oil around the pan. This is essential to prevent the egg from sticking. Too little oil can cause the egg to stick and burn.

3. Fry the Eggs

Use a generous amount of oil. Add the eggs to the pan, and you’ll hear a sizzling sound as they start to cook. Initially, the eggs will look somewhere between a raw and a familiar fried egg.

4. Season

Sprinkle some salt on top. You can also add whatever seasons you like. Make sure the oil is evenly distributed in the pan to avoid sticking or burning.

5. Check if it’s Done

Allow the eggs to cook without flipping them. Use a wooden spatula to check if the egg whites are cooked enough to flip. If not, wait a bit longer. Flipping too early can result in a broken, messy fried egg.

6. Flip the Eggs

When ready, carefully slide the spatula under the egg. Make sure to get at least half of the spatula under the egg to flip it properly. If you only get a third under, the egg might tear. Flip it gently.

7. Cook the Other Side

After flipping, let the eggs cook on the other side. You can flip them a few more times if needed.

8. Serve

Plate your perfectly fried eggs!
